Mrs Blake, Pontefract, West Yorkshire - a future proofed safe & practical shower solution

21 July 2015

Problem:

Mrs Blake last had her bathroom refurbished in the late 90’s – 10-15 years previous when she had just reached retirement age. As standard in this decade the refurbished suite consisted of a 3 piece bathroom setting inclusive of an over bath / shower mixer, basin & toilet.

As we see time after time the designed bathroom wasn’t an adequate future proof solution as only a number of years later Mrs Blake standard to struggle – particularly getting in and out of the bath and up of the toilet because of the upper body strength required.

The flooring was also vanished wood – a highly hazardous fall promotion, especially when wet. Mrs Blake decided she would make adequate DIY adaptations for a number of years in the form of a bath bench and toilet frame but as time went on she was becoming increasingly unsafe and no longer able to enjoy a relaxing soak due to fear of getting stuck and or falling.

Solution:

When we first met Mrs Blake she was a concerned yet conscious customer – she was acceptance of her struggle and keen to make adequate changes to make her daily life easier. Mrs Blake had quite obviously given the adaptation of her bathroom suite some thought as she knew what she wanted and with that we began by exchanging knowledge and advising on specific product choices.

Paramount to the whole bathroom conversion refurbishment was to not fall in the trap of having to change the suite around in a number of years due to any further deterioration. With that More Ability surveyor & designer, Nigel Dawson, designed Mrs Blake a future proofed safe and practical level access shower solution inclusive of new raised height toilet, pedestal basin, lever taps and slip resistant vinyl ensuring there would be absolutely no need to have to refurbish again

Outcome:

A safe and practical bathroom to level access shower conversion inclusive of additional safety and ease of use measures that was very pleasing on the eye. The level access shower solution, raised height toilet, pedestal basin and slip resistant vinyl flooring made the new shower room conversion a safe haven whereby the stylish storage cupboard, illuminated mirror and chrome towel radiator added to the finish touches that made the new room Mrs Blake’s’ own.
