Accessible Walk-In Shower Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire
Published: 22 December 2015
Problem:
Mr & Mrs Smoley had an outdated 2-piece bathroom suite with fixtures dating back to the mid-70s. The avocado green suite consisted of a bath and pedestal basin unit detailed with Pilkington’s style tiles. Although the suite was old it was in perfect working condition however the couple had started to struggle with bathing in terms accessibility and ease of use.
Solution:
Aside from modernising the suite and bringing it into the 21st century there was an important underlying factor to the refurbishment project:- to make it a stylish and accessible bathroom solution.
More Ability surveyor and designer, Nigel Dawson, spoke at lengths with the couple to try and understand what the best solution would be to not only overcome the problem but also meet personal wants, needs and aspirational requirements. Nigel presented a number of showering options coupled with design-led ideas with a decision being made on a stylish walk-in shower solution.
Outcome:
A small and outdated bathroom was transformed into a stylish walk-in shower room. The whole room was ripped out and refit with new fixtures, basin pedestal and shower, complimented with new slip resistant vinyl, wall boards to the shower and wash area and finished in a light fresh green tile selection. The tray that built up the walk-in shower area was also coated in anti-slip material and enclosed with a glass screen making it safe, practical and stylish for years to come.
what mr & mrs smoley said about more ability:
