Mobility Walk-In Bath Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire

Published: 5 February 2021

Problem

Mr & Mrs Turnbull’s small 3-piece bathroom consisted of an accessible wet floor shower, basin and toilet. Struggling with deteriorating mobility but not favoring a wet floor shower as a bathing solution they were determined to once again enjoy a soak in the bath and hoped to install an easy access walk-in bath.

Design Solution

Upon visiting our Harrogate Accessible Bathroom showroom to view and gather further information on mobility bathrooms Mr & Mrs Turnbull were greeted by More Ability CAD Designer & Sales Support Assistant Rachel who discussed with them the available bathing solutions in relation to their bathroom wants and mobility needs.

Following the conversation with Rachel and happy to go ahead with the possibility of installing a walk-in bath having tried the one on display in the showroom, Mr & Mrs Turnbull booked a free design appointment for More Ability Senior Designer Nigel to visit their home to survey their current shower room and provide a provisional quote subject to their fixture and fittings choices.

Following the survey, including an in-depth conversation with Mr & Mrs Turnbull about their bathroom wants and needs, Nigel used his extensive mobility bathroom knowledge and expertise to create a suitable accessible bathroom design. He then invited Mr & Mrs Turnbull to revisit our accessible bathroom showroom in Harrogate to present them with a detailed visual CAD allowing them to envision their new bathroom alongside assisting Mr & Mrs Turnbull with selecting their final fixtures and fittings.

Mobility Bathroom Installation

A mobility bathroom consisting of a walk-in bath with rise and fall seat, closed coupled toilet and basin was installed by More Ability Multi Skilled Fitter Rhys, allowing Mr & Mrs Turnbull to enter the bath without having to step over the sides.

Marble effect accessible wall boards were installed allowing Mr & Mrs Turnbull to easily wipe their walls clean. Anti-slip vinyl flooring was also installed to help to prevent any unfortunate slips or falls within the bathroom.

Additional safety features also included the installation of a grab grail allowing Mr Turnbull to support himself in and out of the bath.

Outcome

Mr & Mrs Turnbull’s accessible wet floor shower was transformed into a low maintenance bathroom with a mobility walk-in bath as the primary bathing solution.
