Walk In Accessible Shower Case Study| York | North Yorkshire
Published: 6 April 2021
Problem:
Mr Carroll’s dated 3-piece bathroom consisted of a standard bath, pedestal basin and WC. Starting to struggle getting in and out the bath, Mr Carroll hoped to install an accessible shower he could safety enter without having to step over the side while giving his bathroom a modern design update.
Design Solution:
Following a recommendation from Age UK, Mr Carroll booked a free design appointment to gather further information on accessible bathrooms whereby one of our Senior Designers would visit his home to offer helpful advice, provide a preliminary design and idea of cost subject to final choices.
Visited by Senior Designer Andy, who discussed with Mr Carroll his design wants and mobility needs, Andy used his extensive bathroom knowledge and expertise to create a modern walk-in accessible shower room design.
Andy then invited Mr Carroll to our Harrogate accessible bathroom showroom to present him with a visual CAD allowing him to envision the new look of his shower room. Andy also assisted Mr Carroll with selecting his final fixtures and fittings.
Walk-In Accessible Shower Installation:
A spacious walk-in shower with slip resistant tray was installed by More Ability Multi-Skilled fitter Colin, allowing Mr Carroll to safely bathe without stepping over a tall bath side.
The walk-in accessible shower also consisted of a fold away flipper screen that stopped water from splashing around the room and allowed Mr Carroll to get easy access to the shower area.
Other accessible sanitary ware choices included a close coupled toilet with soft close seat and basin with a modern chrome waterfall mixer tap.
Floor and wall coverings included low maintenance concrete affect accessible wall boards and matching beige anti-slip vinyl flooring.
Accessible bathroom storage included a modern wall hung mirror cabinet that allowed Mr Carroll to store his bathroom amenities whilst the mirror bounced light around the room creating the illusion of more space.
Finishing touches included a contemporary chrome heated towel rail allowing Mr Carroll to warm his towels whilst bathing.
Outcome:
Mr Carroll’s dated bathroom was transformed into a low maintenance accessible walk-in shower room with modern fixtures and fittings.
What Mr Carroll said about More Ability:
We’re very pleased with our bathroom fitter Colin and the pride he took in installing our bathroom. We are delighted with everything. Thank you.’
