Level-Access Shower | Wetherby | More Ability

Published: 23 October 2024

Background

Mr. Peel reached out to us following a recommendation from a friend and existing customer. His wife, Mrs. Peel, lives with Parkinson’s disease, which meant adapting their bathrooms to ensure her comfort and safety was a priority.

They live in a duplex apartment with a standard bathroom on the lower floor and a shower room on the upper floor. As Mrs. Peel's mobility became more limited, a suitable shower space on the lower floor became essential.

Mobility Bathroom Design

Our Senior Designer, Angela, met with Mr. and Mrs. Peel to discuss their options and conduct a thorough design appointment. Initially, they considered simply removing the bath on the lower floor and replacing it with a walk-in shower but were open to a full renovation if necessary.

Angela recommended installing level-access shower with a glass patrician screen, safety flooring and adding grab bars in the shower area to provide extra support. Since their apartment's layout was fixed, with small rooms on the first floor, Angela focused on maximizing safety and functionality without altering the existing space.

To make the space easy to maintain, Angela suggested using wall boards throughout the room, which eliminated grout lines and provided a seamless, clean finish.

Mobility Bathroom Installation

Joe, our Installations Surveyor, carried out a detailed site survey to ensure the design would work within the existing space and to confirm measurements. This careful planning ensured that the fully project managed design and installation project would proceed smoothly.

Tony, our multi-skilled fitter, managed the installation, removing the old bath and fitting the new level-access shower while ensuring the grab bars were securely placed for maximum safety. Tony’s expertise in fitting the wall boards ensured a flawless, easy-to-clean finish that met the couple’s requirements.

The finished project transformed the lower-floor bathroom into a safe, accessible, and practical mobility shower room that perfectly met Mrs. Peel's needs. The level access shower provided easy access, while the safety flooring ensured a safe environment. The use of wall boards kept the space low maintenance, making it ideal for their lifestyle.

Customer TrustPilot Review:

Mr. and Mrs. Peel were delighted with the outcome, sharing their experience in a 5-star Trustpilot review:

"From meeting the designer to the completion of the work we have received first class service. The finished product is very good and the person who undertook the job is one of the best installers I have ever used. The after sales service to correct any problems is first class. I would recommend them without hesitation."
