Accessible Walk-In Shower Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire
Published: 2 August 2018
Problem:
Mrs Pullein had an existing bath with overhead shower that she was struggling to use, with regards to getting in and out, which provided additional concerns over safety.
Wanting to remain independent within her own home through a series of stylish and accessible bathroom alterations, Mrs Pullein contacted More Ability with a view to ascertaining helpful information, guidance and advice with regards to possible solutions.
Solution:
A well informed and knowledgeable lady, Mrs Pullein was aware of what she wanted the newly renovated accessible bathroom to achieve and was forthcoming in her requirements. With cost being a consideration More Ability Surveyor & Designer, Andy, visited the property to discuss what the possible alternatives could be and to provide a design and idea of price for a full design, supply and installation service.
Focusing solely on the bathing area, Andy proposed a bath replacement tray, also known as an accessible walk-shower, which would involve simply removing the bath, replacing it with a walk-in shower tray, enclosing it with some form of patrician (usually a shower curtain or glass screen) and making good to the surrounding walls.
Outcome:
Conscious of a complimentary design having only renovated a focused area of the room Andy created an accessible walk-in shower solution that delivered on style and safety.
Recommending a consistent colour for the wall boards, which matched the existing tiles, and through the recommendation of a glass screen rather than curtain, a modern solution was delivered which met all present wants, needs and requirements with the added benefit of further adaptations (i.e. shower seat and grabs bars) at a later date, should they be required.
what mrs pullein said about more ability:
“I really appreciated having my ideas listened to by this local firm, and am very pleased with the end result (I had a walk-in shower installed and the bath removed). The surveyor wasn't pushy, the fitter worked extremely hard (and was very patient) in doing the best possible job, there was good after-sales service and pleasant reception staff. No mess and my home was respected at all times.”
